How to Have a Wedding in Roanoke, VA

While Roanoke may not have the millions of potential wedding locations that Charlottesville has to offer, I have realized that it IS possible (shock of all shocks) to have a fabulous wedding there.  My thought process:

Rehearsal Dinner:
I've decided that a fantastic venue for a rehearsal dinner is The Blue Apron Restaurant & Red Rooster Bar.  Located on the adorable Main Street in Salem, it is such an intimate, unique, and sophisticated setting.  It is also conveniently located within two minutes of Salem Presbyterian Church, aka the ceremony venue in this hypothetical Roanoke wedding.  Additionally, the food (& desserts) are absolutely to.die.for.

Ceremony:
I'm basically copying my parents' wedding for the rest of this.  They got married at Salem Presbyterian Church, a beautiful little small-town number with a big steeple and the potential for a seriously gorgeous altar.  I've even fished out some 1985 wedding photos for this post...

Gahh...they're the cutest.  Anywhoo, onto the.....

Reception!
Roanoke Country Club is probably the best route to go when it comes to reception venues in Roanoke and Salem.  It is the prettiest club house in the area by far and the scenery (like any place in the Roanoke Valley) is breathtaking (aka you can get some stunning wedding party photos outside).

Obviously, this is just one possible Roanoke wedding day.  We have lots of brilliant ceremony locations and reception venues over there!  Good thing I have plenty of time to explore before I will have to make a decision about that ;)
