"But you'll welcome us with open arms when we run for cover to you. Let the party last all night! Stand guard over our celebration. You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers, for decking us out in delight." -Psalm 5:11-12 (The Message)
As Charlie Brown once said, "It seems Thanksgiving Day is upon us." I can't believe it! The day after tomorrow, the door will be opened and we will be ushered into an amazing time of the year. My initial reaction: HOW DID WE GET HERE? It seems like just yesterday it was August 20th and I was getting ready to leave for college. And now it's... [she looks shocked as she glances down at her phone to check the date] November 23. The past three months have flown by...they are basically a blur. So much has happened in my life! As I think about that and my mind begins functioning after the original shock, it hits me: God has blessed me extravagantly. And here is the time to really celebrate it...to be decked out in delight!
So here's to the great season that is standing on our front porch, ringing our doorbell. Over the next few days, don't get too caught up in the to-do list of cooking and cleaning and complaining about spending a whole day with your crazy family. Take this time to slow down and relish the generosity and forever-faithful love of the Lord our God! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
