Not only is today Valentine's Day, but it is also my friend Sarah's birthday! Sarah (Sarr, for short) is one of my "life friends." We've known each other since before we can remember. Actually, we've known each other since before we were even born. Our grandfathers were good friends, and our dads were tight as well. We saw each other at family barbecues (best times EVER) and had dance classes together throughout our childhood, but we were officially reunited in sixth grade when we had a class together. My seat was in front of hers, and one day I looked back and asked her if she remembered the epic story that cannot be named on a public site. We proceeded to DIE laughing, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Baby BFF's. I'm far left (yeah, the fat one...) and Sarah is far right.
Hanging out with Catherine at one of our cookouts!
Since then, we have made so many memories. I have too many favorites, but one that I love to look back on is this time we got gummy worms and ate so many that our stomachs started to kill us. As we rolled around on the floor and held our stomachs in pain, we decided that 1) that must be what it feels like to be drunk and 2) maybe we could counteract it. So we then ate a billion carrots and drank like five cups of water. Don't you love how pre-teen minds work?
We have danced, cheered, and swam together. Goodness- so many great times with each sport. I wish I could post an entire album dedicated to our awkward years of competition dance, our ridiculous cheer pictures, and our awful looking swim pictures (let's be real...no one looks good after a swim meet. Sad but true).
We have been through lots of friend group drama and even more boyfriend drama. We've made countless memories on Young Life trips, beach trips, and snow days at home. We've grown up (somewhat), dealt with broken hearts & new loves, and learned how to keep a friendship going even when you're not in the same city for the first time ever (Skype dinner dates=the best). Sarah has been there for me through it all, and I'm so blessed to know that that isn't going to change.
Sarah, you are so precious to me. I love you with all my heart and LITERALLY would have kicked myself in the face if I didn't have you in my life for the past 20 years.
Happy Birthday love :)
