someone is in love with me (and you, too)

"The time on earth for all of us is short! There's little doubt that the Lord is set to return soon. I can only imagine the scenes in heaven. Gabriel has likely picked up his trumpet and is in the process of licking his lips so he can get a good blast! The sweet and precious Lord Jesus is likely shifting His weight from the back to the front of His throne! He's slipping to the front in anticipation of being told by His Father to "go get my people"! Keep your eyes on Israel!!!"
-Chip Roberson

As I read Pastor Chip's blog, this paragraph just made my heart, well, for lack of a better word, hurt (but with happiness/excitement, obviously). This summer, the love God has for us really started to hit me. I started to actually be aware of the fact that I am a daughter of God, and he is my Daddy--and loves me as such. I think it's also important to think about the love Christ has for us, as we are his bride. Metaphors by no means fully flesh out the love of God; they are mere glimpses of his immense, overwhelming love. But the Father/Child and Christ/Bride metaphors help us to put our Christianity into perspective through human terms (that statement alone proves that we literally have no idea how great He is. Our human terms cannot do him justice). Anywhoo, Pastor Chip's post from above made me think to another post of his in which he wrote about Your Worth to God and His Kingdom. Read it. He explains it far better than I can in saying,
God loves you so much that He bankrupted heaven in order to purchase you. If you've received His offer of saving grace, you are His pearl of great price. You are the valuable treasure He discovered in the field. You are worth more to God and His Kingdom than you can ever know.

The Lord paid the price to win us over. And now he's waiting. I think of the excitement I feel before giving someone a gift. Or how completely and utterly pumped I get before going on a fun trip or competing in a cheer competition or pulling off an awesome surprise. Or the excitement one feels as they are about to marry the love of his/her life. Jesus is so. freaking. excited. right now...just waiting to bring home his bride. And to know that someone feels that way about us...wow. It should blow our minds to pieces. It should wreck our hearts. It should make us weak at the knees...short of breath...joyous beyond all get out...thankful beyond belief. It should completely transform us.

He loves us. He loves us. He loves us.

Let that sink in a bit.
