everything is possible for one who believes.

The assembly line funneling through the teeny, dust-coated church basement in Matagalpa was overwhelming. After handing out what felt like hundreds of school packs and uniform vouchers so that Nicaraguan children could go to school, we were also passing out lunch for the children and their parents. Our group stood in line, received a bowl of rice and slice of bread in one hand, a baggie of drink in the other. Full, filled hands. Faces with fake smiles. Shocked eyes. Hurting hearts. We quickly passed our goods onto someone waiting in the other line. Empty, hungry hands. Impoverished faces. Relieved eyes. Grateful hearts. Our bags of bread were dwindling down, but there were still so many faces left in the other line. Panicked hearts. Fearful hearts. But the line kept going, and the bread kept coming. It didn't run out. We had enough left to hand out seconds to the children and their parents. Just as Jesus broke bread and multiplied it to feed 5,000...just as the Lord provided Manna for his children in the wilderness every single day...God provided. And the bread was there. And there was more than enough.

I am so saddened to hear people say they're fearful for the future of something that occurs by and through the hand of God. It hurts my heart. Because God is good and loving and faithful. Because, in his timing, God provides for his children. Always.

I've seen it happen.

"But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
